Best Patios in Banff

Banff summer is short, so patio season counts. From late May through September the town's outdoor seats fill up fast, especially the few spots with a real view of Cascade or Mount Rundle. The good news is that most of the best Banff patios run their happy hour over the patio session, which means you can get a half price pint or a $9 cocktail without giving up the sun.

High Rollers has the rooftop deck behind a low brick wall on Banff Avenue, perfect for a cold pilsner after a hike. Bear Street Tavern's covered front patio is the locals' first choice on a warm afternoon, with wood fired pizza coming straight from the kitchen behind it. Park Distillery has a quiet side patio off Banff Ave that catches the late sun. Magpie & Stump's enclosed back courtyard runs all summer and stays warm into the evening with the heaters on. The Maple Leaf has the upper deck if you want a slightly fancier setup with steaks and views.

For Canmore patios, see the Canmore patios guide. For after sunset energy, the late night Banff guide picks up where most patios shut down at 9pm.

About this list

How we curate

Every venue on this list is hand-picked by us. No paid placement, no auto-pulled aggregator data, just spots a Bow Valley local would actually send a friend to. Times and prices are verified against the venue's own sources at least once a month. More on how HappyMap works.
